Obituary:

Steven "Butch" Anderson 66, passed away Friday, September 20th after a short but courageous battle with kidney cancer. Butch was born August 23, 1953 in Minneapolis, MN to Thor and Marilyn Anderson. Butch was the middle of three siblings he was very close to. In 1978, he married the love of his life, Nancy. They were able to enjoy 41 happy years of marriage, raising three children together in Burnsville, MN. Butch is survived by his wife, Nancy Anderson; children Melanie (Clint) Rix, Katie (Arik) Reger and Michael Anderson; two grandchildren, Wyatt and Mackenzie Rix; and sister, Barbara Anderson. Butch is preceded in death by his parents, Thor and Marilyn Anderson; brother, John Anderson; and brother in law, Steven Zeglin.

Butch grew up in South Minneapolis with his parents and two siblings. He enjoyed playing hockey, fishing, and reading. If his parents couldn't find him, he was often upstairs in his room with his nose in a book. Butch also had quite the knack for writing clever stories and had a very unique sense of humor. Butch became an engineer, and could fix just about anything. He was never quick to make decisions, but rather very thoughtful and thorough in everything he did. He married his wife Nancy on January 28, 1978 and started a family of their own soon after.

Butch lived by the rule that it's the simple things in life that matter. He had a favorite pair of shoes that he had just "broken in" after about 15 years of wear and a favorite green hat which he wore for longer. He enjoyed deer hunting on the family land with his dad, brother, and son, watching football (Vikings and Gophers), making beer can chicken in the backyard, spending time with family and grandchildren, hanging out in the garage (which had the good tunes and a TV) and taking his "hunting dog" Harry on golf cart rides through the woods. Butch didn't like to argue, and usually didn't have to, because he was always right. "I just work here" was his signature line. Butch was always the calm voice of reason and taking care of his family was the most important thing to him. He would do anything for those he loved. Throughout his entire fight with cancer, he never once complained. Not once.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 19, 11am at Zion Lutheran Church, 128 W 33rd St, Minneapolis, MN, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be held Saturday, November 16 at Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery in Dalbo, MN.
